Welcome to the website of the Mid-Maryland Post of the Society of American Military Engineers! Until June 2015, we were the Fort Detrick Post of the Society. At the urging of our regional and national Society leadership, we changed the name, and geographic area, of the Post.
Instead of focusing on the needs of only the Fort Detrick architectural and engineering community—although that will remain an important constituency for the Post—we will be expanding our reach into other installations in the Mid-Maryland region, particularly on Fort Meade.
We are planning an interesting and entertaining program year, and hope that you will join us as we move into new territory, both figuratively and literally!
For those of you who were members of the Fort Detrick Post, no action on your part is required to maintain your Post membership. That will transfer to the Mid-Maryland Post automatically. For those of you who may be looking for a new Post to call home, we hope you’ll join us—and bring a friend or two along for the ride as well.
As always, a Post relies on the support of its members to accomplish the many things that need to be done to make a Post great. For those of you who have been members of the Fort Detrick Post, you’ll see that the names of our Post leadership should be very familiar to you—but we need new blood. If you are interested in getting more involved in the Post’s activities, whether to volunteer a potential guest speaker, help with the annual golf tournament, rank scholarship applications, or help out on any of our committees, please feel free to contact anyone on the Board of Directors and we’ll put you in touch with the appropriate individual who can help you satisfy your goals.
Thanks again for your interest in the Society of American Military Engineers!
